1. NO ONE ELSE HAS STOOD UP TO TAKE ON SUCH A DAUNTING POSITION THAT HAS THE PROVEN LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES TO BALANCE THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND POLITICS.
2. NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR STEVE BERRY'S PUPPET, WHICH HAS THIS CANDIDATE IN HIS POCKET AS HE ASSISTED IN GETTING HIS WIFE TWO JOBS, AND NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE THAT HAS TIES TO SOMEONE THAT DEFENDS DRUG DEALERS AND DRUG TRAFFICKERS FROM SOUTH FLORIDA.
3. THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS CONTINUED TO RUN AND EMPLOY SOME OF THE FINEST OFFICERS, AMONGST THE BIMBOS AND MILL WORKERS, THAT HAVE CONTINUED TO SHOW PROFESSIONALISM WHEN THEIR OFFICE HAS BEEN UNDER SUCH SCRUTINY. OFFICERS HAVE GONE ON TO WORK FOR: FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER, AIR MARSHALS, DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY, BLACK WATER, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE TO NAME A FEW. EVEN TOMMY BENEFITED FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE THAT SENT HIM TO GET EDUCATED BY USING SEIZED ASSET MONIES.
4. FOR SOMEONE THAT USE TO WORK AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE YOU WOULD THINK THAT HIS ADS IN THE PAPER WOULD FOCUS ON THE TRUTH AND ACTUAL NUMBERS AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN EVERY EMPLOYEE IN THE DIRT. WHY YOU ASK? B/C EVEN THE BEST EMPLOYEES AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE DON'T WANT TO WORK FOR A CANDIDATE THAT HAS NO LEADERSHIP ABILITIES, NEVER HELD A LEADERSHIP POSITION, HAS A GREAT DEAL OF BENT UP EMOTION B/C HE WAS FIRED, AND NO TRUE TALENT TO BE A SHERIFF OF CAMDEN COUNTY THAT HAS TO BALANCE THE OPERATIONS OF A SHERIFF'S OFFICE THAT COVERS 630 SQUARE MILES AND WORRY ABOUT POLITICS AT THE SAME TIME, ON TOP OF FAMILY AND OTHER CONSIDERING FACTORS.
5. THE SEIZED MONEY IS GONE. THANK HEAVENS. NOW EVERYONE WILL STOP ASKING THE SHERIFF FOR MONEY AND WE CAN FOCUS ON POLICING AND PROVING A SOUND BUDGET THAT WILL SUPPORT QUALITY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS THAT WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE TRAINING, EQUIPMENT, AND PERSONNEL TO DO THE JOB RIGHT. ANY MORE SEIZED MONEY SHOULD GO BEFORE A PANEL OF JUDGES TO DECIDE IF THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS ABIDING BY THE FEDERAL GUIDELINES AND THE MONEY SHOULD BE USED FOR LONG TERM PROJECTS: LE BUILDINGS, LE EQUIPMENT, AND LE TRAINING, ET
THOUGHTS ON THIS
The blogger makes a lot of good points, but I want to add that not only do you have Gregory slandering the Sheriff's Office in the paper, the paper in general is capitalizing on this and using it as a money maker. It seems that nothing the sheriff department dose is seen as positive. They recently caught a double murder suspect with in 36 hours. Folks that is amazing. You look at the location of the murders, there is not a whole lot of traffic, witness walking around in that area. And with all that stacked against the Sheriff Department that had a suspect in custody with in 35 hours. Then not one person has the balls to actually stand up and congratulate these hard working men and women
Fry's letter spread untruths about Smith
Dear Editor,
Judge (Harvey) Fry's recent tirade ("Shenanigans of sheriff an embarrassment," July 4) allows him to join the usual suspects, (Steve) Berry, (Jim) Stein and (Robert) Morgan, in the regurgitation and reformulation of so-called truths about Sheriff (Bill) Smith and the Camden County Sheriff's Office.
That admittance to that anti-Smith group is surprising for the supposedly unbiased magistrate judge. However, his statement of facts is disingenuous.
The judge doesn't tell you that the 2006/2007 budget request was cut by the overrun amount before the fiscal year began. He doesn't tell you that the overrun was spent on housing inmates out of the county because of our over-populated jail, medically treating them (a U.S. constitutional demand) and feeding them. He doesn't tell you that the overrun wasn't spent on controllable items such as uniforms and office supplies. It was spent on putting bad guys away from the growing community we serve.
He doesn't tell you that besides a detailed budget request for this year the (Camden County) commissioners received a detailed account of the arbitrary county allotment spent last year as well as detailed information on state and federal seized assets used make up for the shortfalls.
He doesn't tell you that the so-called "multiple letters requesting an accounting of all county allotment expenditures" from the county commissioners, particularly Mr. Berry, doesn't exist. The county clerk and the finance department cannot produce one letter requesting the expenditures.
He doesn't tell you that even though he has felt strongly about these issues he is bound by judicial obligations to remain fair, balanced and above the political fray. Well, he is supposed to be non-partisan and unbiased, except of course for the two weeks before the Republican primary.
He doesn't tell you that he's not running for re-election so he feels free to grind an axe. He doesn't tell you that it is not unique to an organization of our size in our county to have family members with known differing political views employed at the Camden County Sheriff's Office, with other companies or agencies that have a daily contact with us. Whether the job is in investigations, corrections, fleet management and, yes, patrol, my co-workers handle the circumstances and differences of opinions with professionalism.
He doesn't tell you that he ruled that a no trespassing sign and a posted private property sign are merely a welcome mat and that decision benefited the usual suspects over property owners.

Thoughts from This Supporter:
Mr Porter he also do sent tell you that the sheriff still employees several of Ray Dyals family members even after Mr Dyals went in the Florida Times Union and try to help throw our sheriff under the bus. Nate Fry is a damn fine officer and I am proud to say I know Fry and that I am glad he is out there keeping our streets safe. I am sure the judge figured that if the sheriff fired Fry then he could have something to say negativly about our sheriff and also have one more voter for Gregory. Also Mr Porter you didn't tell us how short 4 years is... because four years ago Harvey Fry was voting for Bill Smith. Wow Friend today...enemy at the primaries.

This poor excuse you call a Sheriff threw himself under the bus, if he was smart he'd resign and get out of the way, and let this county recoup and get back the way it should be.
Don't you know that Smith and Bundy are famous for solving crimes in a hurry?...In a pig's eye they are..If they have an unsolved crime..they just pick somebody and then proceed with all their dirty work!!
